'Love & Logic' was recorded in November 1998. Tree's members (Steve Hunter, David Jones and Kevin Hunt) decided to add to their trio sound with two of Australia's outstanding musicians in alto-saxophonist Andrew Robson, and gifted guitarist James Muller guesting on two tracks each. The album features five Hunter compositions and two each by Hunt and Jones. | ![]() Cat. #: ABC/EMI 499910 |

| "All the awsome technique that fusion
lovers crave is here, but more important is the joy that bubbles up (...)
at the same time the music is not afraid to slow right down and breath.
Some of it is downright pastoral. You'll enjoy this clean, intricate, exhilarating
music." (four star rating) [John Clare - Sydney Morning Herald] |
| "No-one uses the term 'supergroup'
these days, but it suits Sydney trio 'Tree' (...) Hunter's 'Beat Your Wings'
is a breath taking demonstration of the trio's firepower, his percolating
bass riding the air-cooled hiss and patter of Jone's freakish drumming,
building to the solo by guest guitarist James Muller, his morse-code from
Jupiter opening break, the best I've heard him do on record." [Shane Nichols - Australian Financial Review] |
| "This is brilliant. A mess, the gate-keepers
of jazz might say, because it roams from stylish club-mode to primitive,
folkish settings. (...) no interminable solos, virtuosic outbursts are tightly
framed." (four star rating) [Lesley Sly - Rolling Stone Magazine] |
