My new album 'Dig My Garden' was recently released through Birdland Records and features the enormous talents of James Muller - guitar, Matt McMahon - piano and keyboards and James Hauptman - drums and percussion. It's an album of eight new compositions that I've written over the last few years, and again, is different from my previous albums. There are several reviews of it up on the net now and I'm happy to say that it's doing well. A new group, 'The Translators', which I formed with Ben Hauptmann on electric mandolin, James Hauptmann on percussion and flamenco guitarist Damian Wright will be doing an east coast Australia tour in March. (Please check local gig guides) For lack of better words you could say it's a world music group. It features original compositions by all band members and is a really exciting and unique sounding band. |
| The great Sydney based pianist Matt McMahon also recently recorded one of my tunes for his now released debut album 'Paths and Streams' featuring some of Australia's finest players. It's a really beautiful album and I'd highly recommend checking it out. |
Recent album releases that I play on include Robyne Dunn's 'Songs From the Belfry', and 'Colours of Kenya' by Sydney band Mosaic in collaboration with Kenyan hand drummer Bandika Ngao and a new one by Indonesian keyboardist Dwiki Dharmawan. I also recently did an album session for vocalist/saxophonist Greg Levine. After many years, it's great to finally see a good bass shop 'Bass People' opening in Sydney. It's located in Annandale and run by David Burgess who also hosts 'basscast', a pod download show.They'll be having their official opening on the 4th of March at the Annandale Hotel, which my group, amoungst others, will be playing at. |
